Following a blank day yesterday, Steve Ryder previews two races on Friday 10th May. P&L +39.53pts.
2:25 Chester- Forest Ranger 3/1 (1pt)
Forest Ranger won this race last season having won the Group 3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes on his previous start. Connections have plotted the same route for him again this season and despite only finishing second this year, he achieved the same RPR for that run.
His rivals have question marks to answer with Addeybb ending the season badly out of form and Matterhorn having to prove he can reproduce his AW on soft ground so Forest Ranger looks the solid option.
3:35 Chester- Whiskey Sour 9/1 (0.5pt ew)
Despite having never won the Chester Cup, anything Willie Mullins runs in these staying flat handicaps is worth a second look. Ryan Moore is on board Cesarewitch winner Low Sun but has a terrible draw in Stall 17 so preference instead goes to Whiskey Sour who will be ridden by Andrea Atzeni. Mullins and Atzeni teamed up to win the Ascot Stakes last season on Lagostovegas where Whiskey Sour was further back in 5th to give Mullins a 1,3,4,5 in the race.
Whiskey Sour ended the jumps season in good form including a 4th place at the Cheltenham Festival and can hopefully get a good position early from Stall 7 with bookmakers offering five places.
