Atalanta are winless in eight Serie A games but have recently beaten Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt away, proving their underlying quality remains high. Fiorentina, by contrast, have failed to win any of their 12 league matches and come into this clash with a poor run of results across all competitions. They have conceded ten set-piece goals and struggled to create chances, with misfiring forwards such as Kean and Dzeko short of confidence. At home, with Lookman, De Ketelaere and Scamacca or Krstovic involved, Atalanta have enough firepower to secure a vital win in a contest unlikely to explode into a high-scoring shoot-out.
▾
A 1-0 home win reflects both teams’ current realities. Atalanta are creating enough to edge matches but remain slightly blunt domestically, while Fiorentina are in a prolonged attacking slump and produce few clear-cut chances. Vanoli’s team will most likely arrive with a cautious gameplan, hoping to restrict space and nick something late, but their lack of cutting edge and vulnerability from set pieces should eventually tell. With Atalanta’s likely line-up including Lookman, De Ketelaere and a strong central striker, one moment of composure in the final third may be all La Dea require to take three badly needed points.
Atalanta vs Fiorentina Predictions and Best Bets
- Atalanta’s League Slump vs European Spark
- Atalanta have gone eight Serie A matches without a victory, yet in Europe they have beaten Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt away, underlining how their biggest problems are domestic, not structural.
- Fiorentina’s Winless Crisis and Set-Piece Chaos
- Fiorentina have failed to win any of their 12 league matches, sit 17th in Serie A, and have conceded a league-high ten goals from set pieces, exposing recurring organisational and concentration issues.
- Contrasting Momentum in All Competitions
- Atalanta’s recent form across competitions reads D L W L L W, anchored by that superb midweek performance in Germany, while Fiorentina’s L L L D D L run highlights a side sliding deeper into trouble.
Can Atalanta Turn European Momentum into a Much-Needed League Win Over Struggling Fiorentina?
Atalanta are used to living in the upper reaches of Serie A, yet they currently sit in mid-table with just 13 points from 12 league outings. Fiorentina, normally a side flirting with Europe, are instead staring nervously over their shoulders from 17th place, still searching for their first league victory of the campaign.
This is not just another fixture on the calendar. It feels like a stress test of two projects going in uncomfortable directions. Atalanta’s supporters have had to get used to seeing their team thrive in Europe while stuttering domestically, whereas Fiorentina’s fans are watching a full-blown crisis unfold in slow motion, one laboured performance at a time.
Atalanta’s Double Life: European Highs, Domestic Lows
The strangest element of Atalanta’s season is how disconnected their European and Serie A performances have become. In continental competition they look like a side reborn. Back-to-back away victories over Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt have showcased Raffaele Palladino’s tactical clarity and the squad’s ability to explode into life when the stage is glamorous enough.
Against Eintracht, Ademola Lookman’s opener triggered a ruthless spell where La Dea rattled in three goals in five second-half minutes. It was the kind of burst that reminds everyone just how devastating this team can be when their pressing, movement and finishing align. Their clean sheet record in Europe is elite too, with only Inter Milan, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain keeping more since the start of last season.
Yet back in Serie A, the picture is almost the reverse. Atalanta’s league form line of D D D L L L screams stagnation. They have not tasted a domestic win since September, and under Palladino and his predecessor Ivan Juric they are winless in eight league matches. That is their worst start to a campaign since 2014, and they have not endured such a barren run without victory in Serie A since 2016.
The performance against Napoli was a microcosm of their issues. They showed moments of promise but ended up beaten 3-1 by the champions, punished again for lapses in concentration at key moments. Palladino now faces his former club as a coach under pressure to prove that the version of Atalanta seen in Europe can finally appear for 90 minutes in the league.

Fiorentina in Freefall
If Atalanta are underachieving, Fiorentina are in danger of imploding. The 1-1 draw with Juventus last weekend briefly slowed the slide, but it did not disguise the scale of their problems. They have collected their lowest-ever points total at this stage of a Serie A season and are still without a single league win.
Paolo Vanoli has arrived with a reputation for organisation and intensity, but the early returns are grim: two Serie A draws, and a defeat in the Conference League away to AEK Athens. In that game, Fiorentina mustered only two shots on target before slipping to a 1-0 defeat, extending their winless streak in all competitions to seven matches.
Defensively, they are alarmingly fragile, especially from dead-ball situations. No team in Serie A has conceded more set-piece goals than their total of ten, which is almost a parody of how not to manage basic defensive structures. In attack, the picture is not much brighter. Moise Kean has only two league goals this season, a dramatic drop from his output last term, while Edin Dzeko has yet to find the net at all in Serie A since his move to Florence, despite historically enjoying facing Atalanta.
To make matters worse, injuries have gnawed at Fiorentina’s depth. Roberto Piccoli is dealing with an ankle issue, Robin Gosens is unavailable, and Christian Kouame and Tariq Lamptey remain sidelined. Dodo is a doubt too. It leaves Vanoli reliant on a likely XI of De Gea; Pongracic, Mari, Ranieri; Fortini, Fagioli, Mandragora, Sohm, Parisi; Gudmundsson, Kean – a team with technical quality but fragile chemistry and brittle confidence.

Atalanta to Win and Under 3.5 Goals
Here at BettingTips4You we operate with one clear principle: for every game, we deliver a single, carefully reasoned prediction. No clutter, no confusing lists of alternatives, just one bet that we consider the strongest angle based on the available evidence. This approach keeps the process simple for readers, removes the stress of choice, and keeps us totally accountable – every match is attached to one standout selection whose performance can be tracked over time. For this clash in Bergamo, our best bet is Atalanta to Win and Under 3.5 Goals.
Why This Prediction Makes Sense
The most logical way to approach this game is to combine Atalanta’s underlying superiority with realistic expectations about the match’s overall scoring profile. Atalanta may be winless in eight Serie A outings, but the quality of their European performances shows that the structure and talent are still very much present. Their problems have been about translating control into results, not about a total collapse in performance levels.
At home, with confidence boosted by the three-goal blitz in Frankfurt, La Dea look ready-made to finally convert chances and territory into a league victory. The likely XI of Carnesecchi; Djimsiti, Hien, Kossounou; Bellanova, De Roon, Ederson, Zalewski; De Ketelaere, Lookman; Scamacca offers a strong spine. De Roon and Ederson can stabilise the midfield, Bellanova and Zalewski provide width, and the combination of De Ketelaere and Lookman behind a central focal point such as Scamacca or Nikola Krstovic gives Atalanta multiple ways to unlock a defence.
Fiorentina, on the other hand, arrive in Bergamo low on belief and short on end product. Their Serie A form (L D L L D D) and overall run of L L L D D L in all competitions suggests a side unable to impose themselves at either end of the pitch. Kean is struggling to replicate last season’s prolific form, Dzeko has not yet scored in Serie A for the club, and even Gudmundsson has been unable to drag them out of this slump.
Defensively, conceding ten goals from set pieces is a damning statistic, particularly when facing an Atalanta side who thrive on well-worked routines and aerial presence. However, despite all of Fiorentina’s issues, the match does not scream goal-fest. Vanoli’s sides are usually compact, and Fiorentina’s own attacking struggles suggest their best hope is to keep the game relatively tight.
“When one team is clearly stronger yet both have recent scoring issues in the league, the sweet spot is often a controlled home victory with a sensible goals ceiling. Atalanta’s European form and Fiorentina’s crisis combine to make Atalanta to Win and Under 3.5 Goals the most rational play,” – BettingTips4You.com expert quote.
Taking all of that into account, we expect Atalanta to be assertive, patient and ultimately successful – but without needing to run riot.
Our preferred correct score on this basis is a 1-0 Atalanta victory. La Dea’s renewed defensive solidity in Europe, coupled with Fiorentina’s chronic problems in front of goal and their limited shot output away from home, support the idea of a narrow, controlled home win. Lookman and Scamacca, or Krstovic from the bench, are the likeliest match-winners in a game where Fiorentina’s attack once again falls short.
