Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor – Superfight.
T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas – 26 August 2017, 03:00.
Match Preview and Betting Tips.
It’s happening! What initially started as a trash-talk emerged into a superfight between two of the most prominent figures of their respective sports. The highly-anticipated bout is set for August 26 at T-Mobile Arena (18.000 capacity) in Las Vegas. The crowd in Las Vegas will thus have the chance to enjoy two spectacles within a month since the both between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez is arranged for late September. Anyhow, what should you know about the bout from the betting perspective?
Floyd Mayweather will be a heavy favourite since the bout is to be held under boxing rules. This includes 12 rounds, each lasting three minutes, and most importantly no knees, kicks or elbows during the fight. The only side which could provide at least some sort of comfort for the 28-year-old Irishman is the fact that the contracted weight is 154 pounds. Mayweather has never gone beyond 152 pounds, while McGregor is the UFC Lightweight Champion (155 pounds).
Now, here is what we believe is the most likely of scenarios in the superfight. There is obviously no point in backing Mayweather at 1/10 as he has not entered the ring since September 2015 and the fight with Berto. On the other side, he has not performed a knockout since Victor Ortiz bout in 2011. The value thus simply has to be with McGregor at the sky-high 7/1 odds. The odds on McGregor’s win are significantly dropping and we expect even a greater slide as the fight approaches. Either way, it will be a true spectacle nobody will want to miss out.
