In last year’s event, Brian Harman, Lucas Glover, and Sepp Straka remarkably secured positions within the top four. At first glance, this seemed a bit out of the ordinary. But, retrospectively, it might have been a prelude to the outstanding performance expected from these often-underestimated golfers.

Burns seems to have a preference for this surface, evidenced by his recent 14th place at the Wyndham Championship. Here, over the weekend, he showcased rounds of 65-67 and was ranked fifth for Strokes Gained (SG): Putting on Sunday. This adds to his record, marking his fifth top 15 finish over the last six starts on Bermuda greens.
Reflecting on his performance at TPC Southwind, Burns was a whisker away from victory two years ago, securing the second position for SG: Putting. Although he shot impressive 64s in two of the rounds, he lost to Abraham Ancer from Mexico due to some minor lapses.
Given his previous performance at this venue and his recent form, including six top-20 finishes post his Matchplay win, Burns, at 33/1, appears undervalued. While his recent form might not match up to some of the renowned names, Burns’ potential breakout performance is on the horizon. And if past patterns are any indicators, his recent 14th place finish might be hinting at another victory.
