Match Preview & Team News
Everton entered the new season with the ambitions of joining the battle for the European spots, but they’ve failed to live up to those in the opening eight rounds. The Toffees sit third from bottom having suffered as many as five defeats in eight games. They have huge problems to find the right rhythm on the road where the team bagged no more than a single goal in four outings.
Marco Silva’s men did show somewhat better performances on the home court where they won two and lost two of four matches so far. However, the two losses came in the previous two games at Goodison, one of which particularly hurt local fans (0-2 at the hands of the newly-promoted Sheffield United).
The Toffees are now up against West Ham United who have been playing hot and cold since the beginning of the season. The Hammers sit at the 8th position, but they will head into this winless in the last three ties across competitions. They’ve conceded at least two goals in each of these fixtures in the process even though the opposition included the likes of Oxford United (a 4-0 loss in the League Cup), Bournemouth (a 2-2 draw in the Premier League) and Crystal Palace (a 1-2 home loss in the league).
Silva’s men scored at least a goal in three of their four home outings and we have reasons to expect them to find the back of the net once again here. Everton have been much more successful than West Ham United in head to head matches at Goodison historically, but it is really hard to see the value in backing the home win at the 9/10 odds knowing they hold the 18th position going into this 9th round clash.
Full Time Winner Odds & Prediction
West Ham are unbeaten on the road (one win and three draws) in the Premier League and we have to back them to avoid the loss in Liverpool at the 4/5 odds.
Goals Market Prediction
Both teams to score is a decent option at 8/13 as neither of the two outfits have done well in defending their net lately.
