Main Bet: Lucas Herbert
Our main pick for this week is Lucas Herbert, who, on his only visit to this course three years ago, made a slow start and never recovered from it. However, compared to that period, he is a much more confident golfer, and only four months ago, he won the Irish Open at Mount Juliet. He followed that performance with a tied fourth in the Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, and three weeks ago, he secured his first win on the PGA Tour in the Bermuda Championship. He has some raw talent and what most impressed us was his determination and resilience even in windy and challenging weather conditions. He has also performed well on the Earth Course, and we expect his desert record to improve, probably already from this week. With two wins in the last dozen starts, make plenty of appeals at this price, and it is our main bet for this week.

Each Way Bet: Nicolai Hojgaard
Although we don’t think young Dane Nicolai Hojgaard will have what it takes to win this week, he is surely capable of being in contention and makes appeals with his high price for an each-way punt. He has an impressive raw talent revealed in big-hitting and fearless approach. Additionally, he can drain a lot of putts. Danish golf is going through a fantastic period, having delivered four different winners this season alone.
Hojgaard finished runner-up at the Portugal Masters that was played at Dom Pedro course, which has a good correlation with this week’s one. In 2015, for instance, Andy Sullivan won in Portugal and finished second in Dubai, and there are other similar examples over the years. The young Dane has what it takes to make his presence felt, and there is excellent value in backing him to do so with an each-way punt.
