The Christmas Hurdle is a traditional horse race that takes place on Boxing Day at Kempton Park. It is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race which is part of the King George VI Chase meeting, and it is open to horses that are 4 years old and over. The race is over a distance of 2 miles and horses have to negotiate 8 hurdles.
The first Christmas Hurdle race took place in 1969, and it has grown since in popularity with horses that are now competing for a prize pot over £100,000.
