Main Bet: Ewen Ferguson

After two weeks in Scotland there is more treat for links golf fans as the DP World Tour is heading to the Hillside Golf Club in Southport for the Cazoo Classic. Our top pick for this event is Ewen Ferguson, who won the Qatar Masters earlier this year. The patchy tour schedule didn’t help him to find consistency, but as the summer arrived, we have seen some clear signs of improvements from him. He did well in the Dutch Open and finished tied seventh in the Scottish Open.

At the Dunhill Links Championship last year, he finished tied 17th after being in the top 10 for the first 54 holes. He also secured top 30s at both Renaissance and Fairmont St Andrews, which is impressive considering that that was his first campaign on the DP World Tour. From his amateur days, we can see that he has links pedigree, and backing him to go all the way this week looks particularly valuable.

Matthew Southgate (Each-Way) To Win

Each Way Bet: Matthew Southgate

For our each way punt, we are going for Matthew Southgate, who has two top 20s in the last four starts and will be keen to expand his positive period on a course that suits him well. The last top 20s was in the Irish Open, where he went very close to qualifying for the Open. That was a huge disappointment for him as he loves the Old Course, but now he has the opportunity to bounce back, and there is value to back him to stay in contention, considering that he has produced some of his best results by the seaside. He was tied second at Portstewart in the Irish Open and tied ninth at The Renaissance Club, amongst other strong results. At this price, he looks like the perfect each-way punt.
