Belgium vs Portugal Predictions & Betting Tips: Have We Reached The Final Already?

Belgium vs Portugal Betting

There’s much to be said about the format of this European Championship, but that we can have Belgium against Portugal already in the first knockout round. At the same time, teams like Wales and Denmark or Sweden and Ukraine play each other feels a bit strange. It’s the number one in the world going up against the reign champions of the tournament, and it will be said to see any of those teams leaving the tournament already on Sunday night.

Current Table Position And Home & Away Performances

Portugal have had a rollercoaster of a group stage with a 3-0 win, 2-4 loss and a big-scoring draw added to that as well. Cristiano Ronaldo has been the man of the tournament so far with 5 goals, but he and his Portugal side are now up against maybe the best TEAM in this tournament, with quality in so many positions of the pitch. Romelu Lukaku has scored three so far, and a player like Kevin De Bruyne is yet to play on his highest capacity after slowly moving into the side after the injury he picked up in the Champions League final.

Goals Markets Betting Preview

Both teams scored goals for fun in this tournament, with both Belgium and Portugal on seven goals so far during the Euro’s. However, there’s a bigger difference in goals conceded, with Portugal having seen six strikes go past them, while Belgium has only shipped one. Nevertheless, I still think both teams can score here, as Portugal’s chance will be to try and outscore this Belgium side, rather than sit and observe a team that dominates possession over 90 minutes.

Betting Preview

At the end of the day, I’m leaning towards Belgium as the winners here, but I think it will be very close to call. But Portugal’s defence is a problem, and Kevin De Bruyne is just getting started. If he finds space in midfield, he will pick out “Big Rom”, and he, for one, knows how to score goals. So Belgium to progress is my bet in terms of the outcome here.
