Australia v Georgia Tips & Predictions
11th October 2019 – 11:15
Match Preview & Team News
Australia will close their pool campaign on Friday when they take on minnows Georgia in what should be a one-sided affair all day long in Shizuoka. Wallabies successfully bounced back from a narrow second-round loss to Wales by storming past Uruguay 45-10 last weekend. The gulf in quality was visible even though the Aussies were down to 14 men for 20 minutes of the affair. Their tackling was once again on the spotlight as Adam Coleman and Lukhan Salakia-Loto were both shown yellow cards on the occasion.
Nonetheless, Wallabies still managed to confirm the favourites tag in a seven-try win over the South American opposition. The victory saw Jordan Petaia becoming the youngest Australian to have seven scored at a World Cup. Tevita Kuridrani and Dane Haylett-Petty notched two tries apiece to steer their team towards the comprehensive victory in spite of the tackling issues.
Australia should make plenty of changes to the squad which is about to face the Georgians on Friday. They will likely finish the pool at the second position after the loss to Wales. However, a comprehensive victory here is needed to boost the team’s confidence going into the quarter-final of the competition.
Georgia managed just one win in three games so far. They disappointed heavily in the third-round clash against Fiji who recorded their maiden World Cup win seven days ago. The Georgian defence revealed vulnerability allowing the Pacific Islanders to score as many as seven tries at rain-drenched Hanazono Rugby Stadium.
The Georgians allowed more than 40 points in the opening-round loss at the hands of Wales as well.
Full Time Winner Odds & Prediction
Georgia obviously lack defensive quality to stay competitive against top-notch opponents such as Wallabies. We will back Australia to win the match by at least 28 points difference as the main bet at the odds of 10/11.
First Half Market Prediction
We expect Aussies to get off to a strong start here and the alternative pick will be Australia to go on the half time with at least a 14-point lead at the 9/10 odds.
