The ATP Parma looks a lot more competitive with home player Lorenzo Sonego that is the top seed. Alongside him, we find the likes of Jan-Lennard Struff, Albert Ramos and Benoit Paire, who will all benefit from first-round bies.

Strangely, Paire is a seed, and that is reflected by the long-odds on him winning this tournament. He has barely won a match recently, and since the tour restarted last summer, he has won just above 50% of service points. Surely now that he is playing more regularly, he is in better form, but not to justify getting the seed.

Sonego, in our opinion, is the best shot in this tournament. Since the tour has resumed, he has played consistently well on clay with 70% of matches won and, considering the weak field, has excellent chances of going all the way. The only three defeats have been against the likes of Djokovic, Zverev and Tsitsipas, so it is challenging to expect lower quality opposition to stop him.

Another player to consider is Lorenzo Musetti. The young Italian is making several headlines in the last few weeks on clay and looks to have great potentials. The only problem here is that he would have to win an extra match as he doesn’t have a seed. His draw looks fair, but he is due to clash with Sonego in the quarter-final, and that might be a difficult hurdle for him.

A couple of long-shots to consider outside of the Italians are Spaniards Jaume Munar and Pedro Martinez Portero. Those two have a consistent record on lower levels on clay, and if you are looking for outsiders, you can get them at a very reasonable price.
