The Swiss Indoors Basel tournament, also known as the ATP Basel, is a ATP World 500 series tournament that takes place in Basel from Monday 21st October to Sunday 27th October. The tennis tournament is played on indoor hardcourts at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland. The 2019 edition will be the 50th renewal of this event which was firstly established in 1970. There are 32 players that will be competing for a prize pot that is around £1.4M. The winner of the tournament will secure around £390,000 while the runner up will get £190,000. Tennis legend Roger Federer won the title last year after defeating Marius Copil in the final. 

Current world number three Federer has won the ATP Basel for nine times, and the Swiss will try to go in double-digit when will be defending the title this year. The first time the Swiss player won the ATP Basel was in 2006. He has also won the last two editions. The only other former champion that will be competing this year is Maris Cilic. The Croat won this tournament in 2016.

World Number 1 and 2009 ATP Basel champion Novak Djokovic will not be competing this week while Juan Martin Del Potro (two times champion in Basel) had to withdraw due to injury.
