I’m going to support Alexander Bublik, a powerful server. The Kazakh is far from Mr. Reliable and has disappointed us in the past, but this week he’s out at 16/1 and doesn’t appear to have the most difficult of draws.
Before Ugo Humbert or a qualifier, David Goffin is the first to go. Francisco Cerundolo, who is good at clay, is the better seed in his quarter, and Ruud could be waiting for him in the semifinals. Given the way Bublik plays tennis, I’m not convinced he thinks far beyond his current task, and because of that, I believe he’ll be competing at full force this week.

Despite two losses, he played adequately at the United Cup last week, considering his tendency to have meltdowns.
A 6-3, 7-6 defeat to Stan Wawrinka and a three-set loss to Hubert Hurkacz were both close matches. His main service weapon was working fairly well, with Bublik that was broken only once per game. The weather is still another important consideration at this point.
Last week’s WTA tournament in Auckland, New Zealand, was very hard to finish because of the rain. Several of the matches had to be moved inside to finish the competition. There’s a possibility that something similar may occur here, given the predictions. Since Bublik’s large serve receives a lot of cut-through inside and he enjoys the indoor environment, I would assume he would be content to relocate inside. Bublik is only suggested for tiny bets, but for the price, it seems worthwhile.
