Main Bet: Matthew Jordan

Considering that it was on the linksland that Matthew Jordan first found himself at the top of a European Tour leaderboard, it makes sense to back him to repeat the trick this week. Looking more carefully, it wasn’t a surprise that he did so well by the sea. In the previous October, when he made the debut in this event, he made the cut, shooting an impressive 67-66.

As an amateur, he won the 2017 St Andrews Links Trophy and also the Lytham Trophy. He has played some high-quality links golf since, as he opened with a 66 at Kingsbarns and also delivered a 64 on the Old Course.

It is also worth mentioning his tied 20th at 13th Beach in Australia and the tied 25th at Fairmont St Andrews last year, which was followed by a tied 18th at the Renaissance Club in 2021. On his return to Fairmont he was tied sixth and also finished fourth on his debut at the European Masters. This is the perfect place for him to build on that result and looks value in the betting market to go all the way.

Martin Kaymer (Each-Way) To Win

Each Way Bet: Martin Kaymer

It is not easy to back a player that has just lost the Ryder Cup, but we have had instances where players did bounce back immediately from a negative result in that tournament. Martin Kaymer, who was the vice-captain at Whistling Straits, has the opportunity to win this event for the third time. He surely likes it here as he won in 2010 and was also tied seventh in 2013, while being in contention in other years. This could be the week where he finally end his win drought, as when he was last seen playing on this course, he recorded a decent tied 25th at Wentworth. Surely the Ryder Cup will still be on his mind, yet he has the skills to be in contention in this event and looks value in the each way market.
