Latest 2020 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle Betting
The Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle is a race that is open to horses who are aged four and older. It takes place on the Friday which is the final day of the Cheltenham Festival, and it is the New Course that is hosting this three miles contest.
The horse race was established when the Cheltenham Festival was extended to four days, and for this reason, it has a rather short history. For the first three renewals, it was known as the Brit Insurance, and it was a Grade 2. In 2019 it was won by 50/1 outsider Minella Indo who represented trainer Henry De Bromhead.

Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle Betting Preview & Tips
Day 4 – Friday 13th March 2020 – 2.50 pm – Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle – Grade 1 – 3m
The Albert Bartlett is a challenging race to solve for punters with the results that have been somewhat unpredictable in the last few years. This race was first run in 2005, and over the years we have seen several big winners like Minella Indo that was at 50/1 shot.
The Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle race is a three-mile contest reserved for staying hurdle and chase divisions of the future, and in the past, we have had top horses winning it like Bobs Worth and Penhill. It is worth looking at what Gordon Elliott, Nicky Henderson and Willie Mullins are bringing here, even if between them they have only won it two times. Small stables cannot be ignored as they have done very well in recent times in this race.
Our Bet: THYME HILL
Thyme Hill is the market leader and many, including us, believe he has a very good chance of being the first favourite to win since at Fisher Cross did it in 2013. The son of Kayf Tara is still unbeaten over hurdles and has already won at Cheltenham and in a Grade 1 race. If his jumping will hold, he has what it takes to deliver another great showing after last year’s Champion Bumper third place.
Our Verdict: Thyme Hill

Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle History
The Albert Bartlett is also known as the Spa Novices Hurdle, and it is a rather new race as it was established in 2005 when the Cheltenham Festival was extended to 4 days.
As you can see from the name, it is for novice hurdlers who are aged four and more, and it has 12 hurdles that horses have to negotiate over the 3 miles run. When it was first created this race was a Grade 2, but it was upgraded to Grade 1 status in 2008, and there are some top horses who have performed here.
The likes of Tony McCoy and Robert Thornton have done fantastically well here and have secured two wins apiece. In terms of trainers, it is Jonjo O’Neill who has won more times in 2006 with Black Jack Ketchum and in 2007 with Wichita Lineman.
