Steve Ryder previews the Aintree Hurdle on Day 1 of the Aintree Festival. 2019 P&L +16.18pts.
3:25 Aintree- Ch’tibello 18/1 (0.25pt ew)
I haven’t got a huge fancy for the race with lots of question marks about those at the top of the market. Buveur D’Air lost his long unbeaten record at Kempton on Boxing Day and has to bounce back after a fall in the Champion Hurdle last time. Melon seems best suited by a strong pace over 2 miles so would have question marks at the trip as does Silver Streak. Faugheen ran well for a long way in the Stayers Hurdle last time but doesn’t look the force of old and Supasundae has struggled this season.
That means I have come down on Ch’tibello who the County Hurdle at Cheltenham last time. That was his first start since a wind operation and he could run into a place.
